’No Excuses’ is Rev. Joseph Amico’s sermon on Sunday at the First Congregational in West Brattleboro
WEST BRATTLEBORO -- Feb. 3 is the Fourth Sunday After Epiphany at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. The Rev. Joseph Amico’s sermon will be "No Excuses" based on Jeremiah 1:4-10, describing God’s appointing Jeremiah to be a prophet.
Pianist William McKim’s prelude will be "Sonata in C" by Scarlatti and postlude "Variance on St. Columba" by Schulz-Widman. The senior choir will sing "My God, Your Table Now is Spread" by Lani Smith. Congregational hymns will be "Jesus Calls Us, O’er the Tumult," "Draw Us in the Spirit’s Tether" and "Lord, Speak to Me, That I May Speak." Guitarist Jeff Brewer will play Gathering Music. The service includes Holy Communion.
Sunday worship at First Congregational Church is at 10 a.m. During February and part of March, worship will be in the church’s Fireplace Room. During the worship hour, there is Sunday School for pre-school through grade 6, and childcare for younger children. Following worship there is a Fellowship Hour in the Fireplace Room. Ongoing weekly events include the Prayer Fellowship at 8:30 a.m. and Senior Choir rehearsals at 9 a.m. on Sundays, and the Handicraft group on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
