’Press on Toward the Goal’ is sermon on Sunday at First Congregational Church
WEST BRATTLEBORO -- March 17 is the Fifth Sunday in Lent at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. The Rev. Joseph Amico’s sermon will be "Press on Toward the Goal" based on Philippians 3:4b-14. Pianist William McKim will share a prelude of "I Sing a Song of the Saints of God" arranged by Livingston and a postlude of "Courante" by Handel in F.
Under the direction of Steve Rice the senior choir will sing an offertory anthem will be "All in the Morning" by Peter Amidon. Congregational hymns are "Before Your Cross, O Jesus," "I’m Pressing on the Upward Way," and "Awake, My Soul, Stretch Every Nerve." The benediction response will be "On Eagle’s Wings." Guitarist Jeff Brewer will play gathering music.
Sunday worship at First Congregational is at 10 a.m. Worship is in the Fireplace Room. There is Sunday School for pre-school through grade 6, and child care for younger children. For a ride to worship call 802-257-4408.
There is an on-going collection of canned fruits and vegetables for the Drop-In Center’s Food Shelf and a collection for the Church World Service’s Hygiene Kits and School Kit.
Ongoing weekly events include the Prayer Fellowship at 8:30 a.m. and Senior Choir rehearsals at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings; the Handicraft group on Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
