’Surprised Beyond A Doubt’ is sermon at Centre Church

BRATTLEBORO -- The Rev. Carra McFadden of Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro will preach on "Surprised Beyond A Doubt," based on the text from John 20:19-31, at 10 a.m. worship on Sunday, April 7. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated. Worship will be followed by a potluck at which stories and photos from the recent trip to El Salvador will be shown.

Special offerings for April will benefit the Star Island Youth Conference scholarships and the Nell Sather Scholarships. Nell Sather was an educator in this community and after she passed away, her friends created a scholarship in her name that provides summer camp opportunities for needy children in the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union.

Kidz Club will head into springtime focusing on the Acts of the Apostles, exploring Paul’s transformation from an enemy to a friend of Christians. There will be an ongoing art project, new songs and games to enjoy, under the leadership of Michael Mario, director of Christian Education.

Sunday worship is preceded by an adult group book study at 9 a.m. on "What Everyone Needs to Know About Islam" by John L. Esposito. Wednesday evening Bible Study is held at the home of Gisela Robeck of West Brattleboro.

The Spring Jumble Sale will be receiving items on Saturday mornings, April 13 and 20. The actual sale will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 26, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. For more information, contact Laura Slate at 802-254-5887 or Pam Nelson at 802-257-9167.
