’The Far Reaches of God’s Love’ is theme at Guilford Community Church on Sunday

Saturday June 22, 2013

GUILFORD -- "The Far Reaches of God’s Love" will be the theme of the worship service on Sunday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at Guilford Community Church, UCC tomorrow morning. Pastor Lise Sparrow and Elly Majonen leave this Thursday for Kenya to arrange for the planting of almost 10,000 trees for reforestation of terrain devastated by the desperate poverty left in the wake of colonization.

The congregation will celebrate the generosity of UCC congregations around the United States who contributed to the tree-planting effort and the revolutionary love which is the message of the scriptures taken from 1 Kings 19 and Luke 8. "Deep calls to deep" are the words of Psalm 42 which invokes the truth of a love which can reach across seas and time to reinvigorate our lives. Choirmaster Peter Amidon and the 9 o’clock choir will celebrate this amazing love with anthems, "I Will Guide Thee" and "Beatitudes," an original piece written by Amidon himself.

Nursery and childcare are provided throughout the summer during the services. Everyone is welcome.

Guilford Community Church is an Open and Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ and is fully handicapped accessible. An ASL interpreter and hearing assistance is provided.
