’Three Cases and a Carry-On’ opens Dec. 21 at Dianich Gallery

Thursday December 13, 2012

BRATTLEBORO -- "Three Cases And a Carry-On, an exhibit of work by members of The Chelsea Collective, a mostly London-based group of 16 emerging contemporary artists who work in a range of media, opens at the Dianich Gallery on Dec. 21 and runs through Dec. 29.

Representing seven countries, members of The Chelsea Collective met in 2010 while in the post-grad program of London’s Chelsea College of Art & Design.

Most members live in London, but each will be hanging a new show of work by the entire Collective in their own hometown.

The first show was in Norwich, England, followed by this Brattleboro show, curated by Brattleboro native Aaron Distler. His one directive was that the entire show must fit into three checked bags and a carry-on for his flight from London.

The exhibit features paintings and sculptures plus a few video pieces and a sound piece.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. The exhibit will remain open daily, from 1 to 4 p.m. (closed on Christmas), through Dec. 29.

The gallery is located at 139 Main St., Room 501. For more information, call 802-257-4777, or visit www.catherinedianichgallery.com. For an appointment during off hours, call 802-254-9595.
