’Wrestling with God’ is Rev. Hamm’s sermon at Newfane’s First Congregational


NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will meet for worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3. The Rev. Robert Hamm’s sermon is titled "Wrestling with God" with scripture from Genesis, Chapter 32, Verses 22-31. Congregational hymns are "All People That on Earth Do Dwell," "We Are Climbing Jacob’s Ladder" and "Now Let Us From This Table Rise."

Music will be provided by guest organist Helen Ruth Belanger who will play the prelude "In the Cleft of the Rock" by Walter R. Clarke and the postlude "Great Is Thy Peace" by Otis Gruber. Special music will be provided by Christine Gray and Bill Berner, singing "Blessed Assurance."

The August missions of the month are the Ministers Relief Fund and the Newfane Children’s Christmas. Events for the upcoming week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sew What’s at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Garden Club at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
