Sacrament of Holy Communion to be observed at Newfane’s Congregational
NEWFANE -- The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be observed at the First Congregational Church of Newfane on Sunday, May 5. The Rev. Robert Hamm’s meditation is titled "Love the Earth" with scripture from the Gospel of John, chapter 14, verses 23-29.
Hymns to be sung by the congregation are "Fairest Lord Jesus," "For Beauty of Meadows," and "Go Forth for God." The choir will sing "Hymn of Promise" by Natalie Sleeth. The prelude, "Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring" by J.S. Bach will be played by Dan Marx on the oboe and the postlude "Thanks Be to God" by Howard H. Witherell played by organist/music director Martha LaMoria. Next Sunday Mother’s Day/Festival of the Christian Home will be celebrated.
Upcoming events for the week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Monthly Senior Luncheon (pot roast and noodles) at noon, bell rehearsal at 5 p.m. and choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday; Helping Hands from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday.
