Senior Center schedule for October
- The center is also hosting an American Association of Retired Persons driver safety course on Monday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members.
"Cars have changed, so have traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads we travel every day.
Some drivers haven't looked back since they got their first drivers licenses, but even the most experienced drivers can benefit from brushing up on their driving skills," Teagen Kosut, the executive director of the senior center, said. "By taking a driver safety course, they will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques and how to operate their vehicles more safely in today's increasingly challenging driving environment." Call the center at 802- 463-3907 to reserve a spot for the course.
- After a summer hiatus, the senior center's quilters are back at it. The quilters meet the second Wednesday of every month at 9 a.m. "If you are looking for tips or practical quilting advice, these are the ones ladies to ask," Kosut said. Feel free to bring in a quilting project to work on, or lend a hand on numerous ongoing projects. These quilters have been meeting at the center for more than 12 years and donate a handmade quilt every year to help raise money for the center.
- Chair caning with Joanne Gay and Nancy McAuliffe has returned to Monday afternoons from 1 to 3:30 p.m. "Are you interested in learning the art of chair caning? Then this free class is for you," Kosut said. Bring in a project to work on, or stop by to discuss a chair repair or full re-caning.
