Shumlin: Election as DGA chairman will help Vermont

MONTPELIER (AP) - Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin says his election as chairman of the Democratic Governors Association should be a boon to his home state.

The Democratic governor says his role will help cement relationships with other governors and help Vermont officials gather the best information when trying to solve problems facing multiple states.

Shumlin, was elected by the DGA during the group's annual meeting on Tuesday.

His election comes less than a month after Vermont voters gave him a second two-term.
