Six members of Centre Congregational Church to leave Friday on mission trip to El Salvador

BRATTLEBORO -- On April 11, six members of Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro will depart for a mission trip to El Salvador to rekindle relationships with the church’s Sister Parish, El Cristo Redentor, and to attend Palm Sunday worship there. This usually includes a big procession with palms through the main streets of San Salvador.

Those participating are Jenifer Ambler, Ron Svec, Kathryn Fecto, Kate Maisner, Haley Marcil and Tori Svec. Conversations will include scholarships awarded to local students through the Luz del Mundo process.

The Rev. Carra McFadden will lead 10 a.m. worship on Sunday, April 6, the Fifth Sunday in Lent. Her sermon is "Being the Church: Truly Different," based on the text from Romans 13:11-14. Study groups precede and follow worship, as well as Fellowship Hour in the Fireside Parlor.

The Fundraising Committee will sponsor a Progressive Dinner in three homes on April 12. To purchase tickets (in advance only), contact Deborah and Stephen Brown at 802-365-7071. The committee is also seeking items for the upcoming Jumble Sale, which may be taken to Memorial Hall on Saturdays, April 5 and 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. or left outside the hall door at other times.

Centre Church is located at 193 Main St., Brattleboro, and is a congregation of the United Church of Christ. For more information contact the office at 802-254-4730 or visit the website at
