Soccer, field hockey teams have second round games in sight
BRATTLEBORO -- Round two of varsity soccer playoffs start today, as the No. 2 Leland & Gray (11-3-0) boys host No. 7 Stowe (6-6-2) in Townshend at 3 p.m. The Rebels go into the contest coming off a Division 3 playdown win over Winooski.
The No. 9 Leland & Gray ladies (6-6-2) will travel to Morrisville to face a perfect No. 1 Peoples (14-0-0) in a Division 3 showdown that takes place Saturday at
1 p.m. The girls beat the Bellows Falls Terriers in round one to proceed to the quarters.
The second-ranked Division 4 Twin Valley boys (11-3-0), with a first-round shutout under their belt, will meet No. 10 Arlington today on Sawyer Field in Brattleboro at 3 p.m. If they win, the Wildcats will challenge either No. 3 Danville or No. 6 Cabot (who both maintain identical 10-3-1 records) in the semi-finals.
In Division 3 field hockey, No. 2 Bellows Falls (11-2-0) should keep the ball rolling in their matchup with No. 7 North Country (3-8-3) on Saturday at 11 a.m. If they are triumphant, the Terriers will progress to host either No. 3 Missisquoi Valley (10-3-1) or No. 6 Fair Haven (5-9-0).
