Softball, baseball teams debut April 8

Posted

BRATTLEBORO >> After impressive seasons last spring, the Leland & Gray varsity softball and baseball teams will each open up on April 8.

Coach Tammy Claussen's crew earned the No. 9 seed in the 2015 Division 3 softball tournament, before upsetting No. 8 Williamstown, No. 1 Oxbow and No. 4 Thetford. The Rebels, who ended up with a 10-10 record, then got two hits each from Emily Thibault and Rachel Borgesen during a 4-1 loss to second-seeded Richford in the state championship game.

The Leland & Gray baseball team went 15-4 a year ago. The Rebels would lose to top-ranked BFA-Fairfax, 5-0, in the D-3 semifinals — John Peloso had a team-high two hits in that game, while Josh Donna (2 K's, 2 BB) was solid on the hill.
