Sox slide past Giants in LL action
BRATTLEBORO -- The Red Sox defeated the Giants 15-13 Saturday morning in an entertaining game of Little League at the South Main Street field.
Evan Finnell, Jack Price and Josh Nordheim each banged out two hits, but it was the inspired play of two 10-year-olds that sealed the victory for the Sox.
First year player Shea Buckley made his Little League debut on the mound a memorable one with two nifty innings of middle relief and 10 year-old Liam Styles earned the win with the help of a Scott Perlberg shutdown save.
Styles and Buckley each had line-shot base hits and scored runs to ignite the Red Sox sixth-inning two-run game winning rally.
The Giants were not without heroes as Brandon Gilbeau had three hits while Jake Gilbeau and Dylan Carrequillo had two each, and Caleb Martin had a monster big fly off the scoreboard in left. Robby Vergonne pitched very well for the G-men.
