St. Petersburgh Men's Esemble in region for holiday season

BELLOWS FALLS >> The St. Petersburg (Russia) Men's Ensemble will be spending a portion of their 10th annual East Coast Tour in our region.

The quartet, singing totally a cappella, has prepared a concert highlighted by a special adaptation by their Director, Kirill Sokolov, of 10 pieces from the All Night Vigil by Sergey Rachmaninov Op.37.

The All Night Vigil was created in 1915, just 100 years ago.

The arrangement by Sokolov is meant to be a gift for the centennial celebration of this fine Russian music, as well as for the group's 10th anniversary as an ensemble.

Concerts will be held at the United Church of Christ in Keene, New Hampshire, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at 23 Central Square); the United Church of Bellows Falls, at 8 School St. on Monday, Nov. 30, at 7:30 p.m., and at the First Congregational Church of Sullivan, New Hampshire at 4 Church St. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.

In addition to the Rachmaninov piece, the ensemble will share other sacred pieces as well as some Russian Folk music.

Light refreshments will follow each concert where the group's CD's and Russian Folk items can be purchased.

Admission to these events is by free-will offering.

Mark your calendars now to remind yourself to attend one of these wonderful concerts brought to us "From Russia with Love!"
