WESTMINSTER >> Emily Stoddard was recently named the December Elks Student of the Month for Bellows Falls Union High School.

Emily, a senior, is the daughter of Nathan and Cynthia Stoddard of Westminster. She is a hard-working, diligent, and motivated student who puts forth 100 percent effort to do well in her classes. Always involved in class discussions, she adds her opinions respectfully, and is prepared for class. Emily is willing to put in the time and effort necessary to be successful, and it clearly shows in her work. Emily simply works harder than many students to get the most out of her education.

With her positive attitude and energy, she is an asset to BFUHS and the surrounding community. She is interested and excited about learning new concepts and perspectives, and this speaks to her character. Emily's enthusiastic and encouraging approach is contagious, and she is a good role model for her peers.

Emily has excellent attendance, and when she does have to miss school, she quickly meets with her teachers to get her assignments taken care of. Not only is she in school, but she actively participates. She knows that attendance in school is important to her success.

As a leader, she is supportive of others and offers encouragement and support for her classmates. She is a leader, and this comes through in everything she is involved in at BFUHS.

Not only does Emily work hard to do well in school, she is active in numerous activities and sports at BFUHS. Emily has served as the co-captain on the state championship Field Hockey team. She is an active member of Student Council, and she is in the Drama Club. Emily has taken part in numerous community charity events through her membership with the Student Council, and also has a part-time job in the community.

BFUHS is proud to have Emily represent us this month with this award.
