Summer streetfests start Friday

MANCHESTER CENTER >> The first of two free summer StreetfFests on Friday, June 17 from 6 p.m. – 9. p.m. Highlighting the evening's festivities will be live music by the Prescription, a pickleball demonstration by Ivo Ljubibratic of the Equinox and enjoy beer, wine and sangria by the Perfect Wife Restaurant. The event is a benefit for the Manchester Rescue Squad.

Joining the festivities will be arts and crafts activities for kids with the Downtown School and Stacy Gates of the Manchester Arts Studio and Gallery and sleight-of-hand magician, Doug Eash who tells worthwhile stories with a deck of cards. Long Trail School students will be throwing pottery bowls in anticipation of their Empty Bowls event this year. Local artisans will be on hand displaying their handmade work and non-profits will update fairgoers with their progress on community initiatives.

The June 17 event is the first of two this summer presented by the Town of Manchester. Main Street will be closed beginning at 4 p.m. from the Mountain Goat until Thai Basil. Parking is available at MEMS and in the municipal lot behind Rite Aid. Due to expected crowds, no dogs are allowed.

Taxpayers of the town along with community sponsors including the Bank of Bennington, rk Miles, the Northshire Bookstore, Spiral Press Café and Vermont Renewable Fuels are making the events possible.
