MONTPELIER >> The 16th-seeded Bellows Falls varsity girls basketball team lost to top-ranked U-32, 62-30, in a Division 2 playdown game on Thursday night.

"We handled their press for the most part — just one spell in the third where we had four turnovers in a row," said Bellows Falls coach Joe Goodhue. "They were bigger than us, but we held our own. As in most of our games this season, we didn't go down without a fight."

Hannah Kelly scored 10 points to pace the Terriers. Molly Kelly and Michelle Marchica added six points each.

The Raiders improved to 20-1 and advanced to the D-2 quarterfinals. The purple and white ended the season with a 7-14 record.

Bellows Falls roster: Coaches — Joe Goodhue, Todd Wells. Players — Molly Kelly, Michelle Marchica, Abbe Cravinho, Keri Ticino, Madison Streeter, Emma Lawrence, Brigid Hodsden, Alyson Bashaw, Murphy Hicks, Hannah Kelly.
