Terriers fall in D-2 title game

RUTLAND — The top-seeded Burr and Burton varsity football team capped off a perfect season with a 28-7 decision over No. 2 Bellows Falls in Saturday's Division 2 championship game at Rutland High School.

BBA quarterback Griff Stalcup was 20-of-31 through the air for 192 yards and a pair of scores. He also ran the ball 11 times for 43 yards.

Ray Gormley's nine-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter gave the Bulldogs the lead. But the Terriers would pull even at 7-7 prior to the break thanks to quarterback Zac Streeter's TD on a fourth-down play.

In the second half, Stalcup fired a 29-yard scoring strike to Sean Apps and a 19-yard TD pass to Carter Vickers. And Will Tucker added an eight-yard burst to the house.

Running back Jahyde Bullard paced the 9-2 Terriers with 36 rushing yards on 17 totes.

Bellows Falls went 8-1 during the regular season to earn the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. The Terriers advanced with a 34-21 victory over No. 3 Burlington in the semis, behind Bullard's 190 rushing yards and a couple of defensive scores.

The seniors on the BF roster include James Magnuson, Bradley Tallent, Zac Streeter, Chris Doucet, Chris McKeen, Dakota Derby, Tyson Taylor, Austin Covillion, Devin Hogan, Christian Terry and Rhys Bodner.
