Terriers, Rebels come up short


RUTLAND >> Mount Saint Joseph remained undefeated with a 56-30 rout of the Bellows Falls varsity girls basketball team on Monday night.

"MSJ is the best all-around team we have faced this season — good shooters, great passers, fast. tenacious defense. We were outplayed in the first half, but played a lot better in the second," said BF coach Joe Goodhue.

The Terriers were without Keri Ticino (knee injury) and Emma Lawrence (illness). Hannah Kelly paced Bellows Falls with 13 points and Michelle Marchica chipped in with six of her own.

Goodhue's gang will play at Poultney tonight at 6.

Leland & Gray girls basketball team

TOWNSHEND >> On Monday night, the Rebels fell to visiting West Rutland, 40-33. Caroline Tietz scored 11 points to pace the hosts and Hannah Buffum followed with a dime's worth. Leland & Gray will play at Proctor on Thursday night at 6:30.

Women's Rec Basketball

BRATTLEBORO >> In Monday's action at the Gibson-Aiken Center, Chroma took care of Lawrence & Lober Electric 40-34 and The Marina downed Lawton Flooring 32-27. The league standings look like this: Chroma 4-0, Houghton Sanitation 3-1, The Marina 2-2, Lawton Flooring 1-3, Lawrence & Lober Electric 0-4.
