Terriers to host Springfield tonight


BRATTLEBORO >> The Bellows Falls Union High School varsity football team will attempt to beat Springfield for a seventh consecutive time when the rivals face off in Westminster tonight at 7.

In the series that dates back to 1914, the Terriers have a 54-42 record against the Cosmos. The Purple Gang won the 50th annual Trophy Game 48-0 last season.

Bellows Falls went 9-2 in 2015, including a 28-7 loss to Burr and Burton in the Division 2 championship game. That came one week after running back Jahyde Bullard carried the ball 24 times for 190 yards during a semifinal victory over Burlington.

Seniors Jacob Lober (fullback), DJ Snide (guard) and Brady Illingworth (center) were named the captains of coach Bob Lockerby's 2016 varsity football team.
