Textile artist Jackie Abrams to recount travels in Africa
BRATTLEBORO >> Take a visual journey to Ghana, Namibia and Uganda. Visit the workshops of Kente cloth weavers, follow the steps of glass bead making and see basketmakers as they work. Experience the culture, the people and the places of Africa, all through the eyes of Brattleboro textile artist Jackie Abrams.
Abrams will recount her experiences on the continent in a slide show and discussion called Textile Travels (and More!) in Africa. The free public presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell-Giddings Fine Arts, 183 Main St.
The program is presented by Brattleboro-West Arts in conjunction with MGFA. Brattleboro-West Arts is a group of about three dozen artists who create their art and make their homes within the watershed of the Whetstone Brook in West Brattleboro, Marlboro and Dummerston,
Light refreshments will be available.
