The Artist in Each of Us continues on Wednesdays

PUTNEY -- The Artist in Each of Us meets Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until noon at the Putney Cares Activities Barn, 54 Kimball Hill Road. The group is co-sponsored by Westminster Cares and Putney Cares.

Since 2003, a group of seniors have been meeting weekly at the Putney Cares barn to create art. Over these years, artists in the group have worked with a wide variety of materials, often with a visiting artist participating.

In recent years, the focus of this weekly event has been watercolor painting. These meetings provide participants with artistic opportunities, as well as an opportunity to meet others, and socialize; thus furthering good health and community involvement. The group meets Wednesdays from 10 a.m. until noon.

This program recently received a small grant from the Holt Foundation which will be used to purchase art supplies and pay stipends to visiting artist during the spring of 2014.

Some testimonials from attending artists were:

"I look forward every week to my art class on Wednesday. It’s my favorite day of the week" E.G.

"I have enjoyed the art class. It is very relaxing and has inspired me to look at the environment with ‘open’ eyes." B.D.

Participants with all levels of experience are welcome. No registration is necessary. There is a suggested donation of $3 to $5 a class.
