The Vermont Children's Trust Foundation supports nutrition initiatives in Windham County


BRATTLEBORO — The Vermont Children's Trust Foundation, a fundraising and granting organization that supports prevention programs for children and families across Vermont, is celebrating its 25th year. The "Family Student and Enrichment" and "Boys and Girls Club Supper Club" Programs of Windham County are examples of the community-based initiatives VCTF funds across the state that support Vermont children and their families. In addition to health and nutrition educational outreach programs, VCTF Funds preschools, teen centers, literacy and mentoring programs, and substance abuse prevention. As an organization, VCTF is committed to supporting programs which strengthen Vermont families and communities.

The Family Student and Enrichment Program facilitated by Mountain Communities Supporting Education is a community building event which focuses on enhancing health, wellness and connection through intergenerational dialogue nights complete with shared meals. This program allows Vermonters of all ages and backgrounds to come together and share nutritious foods and insight into how to live a happy and fulfilled like in the Green Mountains. These lessons and the connections made promote lasting positive health outcomes and choices for Vermonters in Windham County while also bringing people together.

The Boys and Girls Supper Club by the Boys and Girls Club of Brattleboro is a program designed to raise awareness around and address food insecurity in Windham County. This program brings together youth leaders to create and share healthy and notorious meals with each other and anyone else in need, six days a week. This program helps youth to develop skills which support community service and inclusion. In creating a safe space where families can share nutritious food, this program offers a compassionate example of how to fortify the community.

The Family Student and Enrichment Program and the Boys and Girls Club Supper Club represent vital community resources which create the transformative potential for youth to make healthy lifestyle decisions. These choices have a lasting effect on their quality of life and set the foundation for a lifetime of smart lifestyle choices and behaviors. Mountain Communities and The Boys and Girls Club of Brattleboro are providing essential services which truly supports a positive Vermont future.

An important source of funding for VCTF is through donations made by taxpayers on Line 29B of the State Tax Return. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Line 29B of the State Tax Return go to funding children's programming in Vermont, such as these important health and nutrition programs in Windsor County

The Vermont Children's Trust Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the well-being of children and families in Vermont by raising funds for community-based prevention programs. Funds are granted to programs that meet the Foundation's guidelines and requirements of supporting community based efforts which educate and support Vermonters to make healthy and fulfilling choices.
