Three cars collide on Putney Road

BRATTLEBORO >> Emergency crews responded to a three-car collision at the traffic light by Hannaford on Putney Road around 1 p.m. on Thursday.

According to Lt. Robert Perkins of the Brattleboro Police Department, a Putney resident driving a van was headed south on Putney Road when she struck a car operated by Zhenting Cai. The impact then caused Cai's vehicle to ram into a commercial Coca-Cola vehicle, operated by Kyle Buckley.

"I didn't even look back, then the vehicle hit me in the back, boom. I'm pretty much in shock," said Cai.

Cai noted that the operator of the van said she did not see the red light because the Coca-Cola truck was too tall and blocked her vision.

Four individuals were involved in the crash, and the passenger of the van, Dayananti Carunia, was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Both the van and Cai's vehicles were towed from the scene and the Coca-Cola vehicle was undamaged and released from the scene.

Perkins did not release the name of the van operator (vehicle one) as he says the incident remains under investigation.

The Brattleboro Police Department, Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc. responded to the incident.
