Tiny dancers and singers take to the big stage

Brattleboro School of Dance will present the second annual recital for young students at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 1 at the Latchis Theater in downtown Brattleboro. BSD owner and artistic director Jennifer Moyse said the recital is a chance to see what the school's youngest students are learning in creative dance, jazz, tap, hip-hop and modern dance classes.

Moyse also said that this year's hour-long show also features the work of the newly formed BSD junior company in dances they have choreographed. "A recital is not as formal as a dance concert. So younger dancers can get a good feel for what it's like to perform in front of an audience," she said. Admission is $10 and tickets may be purchased online at BSDrecital2016.brownpapertickets.com or at the dance studio weekdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. BSD is located at 22 High St., 3rd floor. For more information visit www.brattleboroschoolofdance.com
