Tiny dancers, singers, take to the stage

Brattleboro >> Brattleboro School of Dance (BSD) will present the second annual recital for young students at 3 p.m .on Sunday, May 1 at the Latchis Theater in downtown Brattleboro.

BSD owner and artistic director Jennifer Moyse said the recital is a chance to see what the school's youngest students are learning in creative dance, jazz, tap, hip-hop and modern dance classes.

Moyse also said that this year's hour-long show also features the work of the newly formed BSD junior company in dances they have choreographed.

"A recital is not as formal as a dance concert. So younger dancers can get a good feel for what it's like to perform in front of an audience," says Moyse. "They all work very hard in their classes and are excited to show their friends and families what they can do."

The West Bee Nursery School joins as a community partner for the second straight year, providing songs under the direction of music teacher Robin Morgan.

Admission is $10 and advance tickets can be purchased online at BSDrecital2016.brownpapertickets.com or by visiting the Brattleboro School of Dance Studio weekdays from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Brattleboro School of Dance is located at 22 High Street, 3rd floor, Brattleboro. More information is available at www.brattleboroschoolofcance.com
