Turkey Trot to be held Thursday morning
BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving Day, with a one-mile kids' race at 9 a.m., followed by a three-mile race at 9:15 a.m. Both courses are out-and-back on Upper Dummerston Road, starting and ending at the Brattleboro Country Club.
There's no entry fee, but participants must preregister at www.redcloverrovers.com by Wednesday, Nov. 25, if they wish to be included in the results. Those who don't preregister can still run but won't be given a bib number.
Participants are also asked to bring a nonperishable food item for donation to the local food shelf, along with a second item (canned goods, baked goods, dessert, something Thanksgiving related, etc.) for post-race awards. Runners will be able to choose one of the food items as their reward after they finish.
This race comes after the town's summer Fun Runs and the annual Bill Powers Memorial Firecracker 4-Miler. Jason Dunklee, a 1992 Brattleboro Union High School graduate, prevailed on July 4 and was followed by Rob Lind in second and Norwich freshman Ryan Gilligan in third. Dana McClelland, Heather Conarroe and Natalie Quintero were the top three female finishers in that Memorial Park to Brattleboro Town Common race.
