TV soccer teams to open at home

Posted

BRATTLEBORO >> The Twin Valley varsity boys soccer team is hoping to continue its dominance, following consecutive perfect seasons and then a trip to the Division 3 championship game last fall.

The Wildcats, who went 15-2-1 in 2015 and lost to Stowe 4-0 in the finale, will open up with a home game versus Windsor on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. They will take on Leland & Gray — the team that snapped their long winning streak last season — on Sept. 13 and Sept. 21.

Twin Valley's Buddy Hayford is the winningest soccer coach in Vermont high school history. After leading TV teams to seven state crowns and three runner-up finishes, he was inducted into the Vermont Principals' Association Hall of Fame this year.

Chris Walling's Lady Wildcats, which had First Team Marble Valley Leaguer Brianna Rafus in goal, went 4-10 and were blanked by BFA-Fairfax in a playdown game last season. They will debut at home against Otter Valley on Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.
