Twin Valley girls lose to MSJ


WHITINGHAM — On Friday night, the Twin Valley varsity girls basketball team turned the ball over 31 times and lost to visiting MSJ, 46-29.

"It was really over after the first quarter," said Wildcats coach Buddy Hayford, whose team trailed 16-5 after the first eight minutes. "Their pressure was just way too much for my team."

Kirra Courchesne and Tayler Courchesne paced the hosts with 11 and eight points respectively. Sammy Morse followed with a nickel's worth, and Brianna Rafus ripped down seven rebounds.

Twin Valley will play at Leland & Gray on Wednesday.

Varsity Boys Hockey

WHITE RIVER JCT. >> Hartford broke the ice with 25 seconds left in the opening period and later added an empty-net goal with one minute left to beat Brattleboro on Saturday.

"We had a power play with six minutes left that we didn't cash in on and a breakaway with 1;45 remaining that he stoped," said BUHS coach Eric Libardoni.

The Hurricanes outshot the Colonels 27-15. Each team had just one power play in the game.

Middle School Girls Basketball

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. >> Chesterfield ran its record to 10–2 on the season with victories over Westmoreland and Marlborough last week.

Rachael Rooney had 21 points, including four trifectas, and Carmella Richardson chipped in with six points in the 36–20 win over Westmoreland. Aubrey Mitchell had 15 rebounds for Chesterfield in that contest.

In a 51–28 rout of Marlborough, Rooney scored a game-high 31 points, Aubrey Mitchell added eight points and 10 rebounds, and Eliza Mitchell chipped in with six points.
