United Way to Celebrate HOPE

BRATTLEBORO -- Celebrate HOPE, an event sponsored by United Way of Windham County, will be held Thursday evening, Oct. 3 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the American Legion in Brattleboro to celebrate the community initiatives in which the United Way collaborates. Focused on the building blocks for a high quality of life for all people in Windham County, United Way invests in and supports a broad range of direct service programs, as well as education, financial stability, and health- related initiatives.

United Way will be honoring the first recipient of its annual "Partner in HOPE" award, as well as highlighting Adult Dental Care Day, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, Vermont 2-1-1, and their Fund for Quality Early Education at the event.

"We don't do any of our work alone," said Carmen Derby, United Way's Executive Director. "This event honors the collaborative partners we have developed over years of community-based work, and allows us to thank all of the volunteers, donors, and advocates of these issues with whom we've had the pleasure of working. We invite the community to share in the celebration and to learn more about our work."

United Way will issue its second annual community impact report, "Celebrating HOPE 2013" at the event, which will also be available on its website at www.unitedwaywindham.org. The report reflects how Windham County is doing on these critical issues and how United Way of Windham County is aligning its partners and their resources towards achieving lasting results.

The Celebrate HOPE event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP at www.unitedwaywindham.org or by calling the United Way office at 802.257.4011.
