Upcoming rec, parks activities

BRATTLEBORO — For the Thanksgiving school break, there will be additional public skating hours at the Nelson Withington Skating Rink, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, through Wednesday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 24. The rink will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Additional open gym and game room hours at the Gibson Aiken Center will be from 1:30 to 5 p.m. for all school ages on Monday, Nov. 20, through Wednesday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 24. The Gibson Aiken Center will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

And on Dec. 2, Santa Claus is coming to town, arriving at the Gibson Aiken Center on Main Street at 1 p.m. on a tractor provided by The Robb Family Farm and escorted by the police and fire departments. Children can visit with Frosty, Santa and his Elves and have their picture taken for a donation. "Santa's Workshop" will be open for children to decorate Christmas cookies which are donated and made by "The Hideaway" at Brattleboro Union High School and the frosting was made by Vermont Country Deli.

The BUHS Band will be there playing Christmas tunes.
