Vermont Gov. Shumlin appoints new Windsor County prosecutor

MONTPELIER, VT. >> The executive director of the Vermont Department of State's Attorneys and Sheriffs is going to become the next prosecutor in Windsor County.

David Cahill will replace current Windsor County State's Attorney Michael Kainen, who has been appointed by Gov. Peter Shumlin to be a trial court judge.

Shumlin announced Cahill's appointment as state's attorney on Monday.

Cahill served as a deputy state's attorney and chief deputy attorney in Windsor County from 2006 to 2014. He also teaches courses in criminal law at the Vermont Law School.
