Vermont House recognizes group that restores lost medals
MONTPELIER >> The Vermont House has recognized an organization that's dedicated to helping reunite lost Purple Hearts and other military decorations with the servicemen and women who earned them, or their relatives or other appropriate groups.
On Wednesday the House passed a resolution honoring Vermonter Zachariah Fike, the founder of the organization Purple Hearts Reunited.
The nonprofit organization was created in 2012 and works to return lost or stolen military medals of valor to veterans or their families in order to honor their sacrifice to the nation.
So far, the organization has returned more than 200 medals to veterans, families and museums.
