Vermont law enforcement agencies plan DUI checkpoints

BRATTLEBORO (AP) - As the holidays approach, Vermont State Police are stepping up enforcement.

Troopers, along with local and county law enforcement agencies, will be conducting DUI checkpoints and increasing patrols in Windham County from Dec. 16 to Dec. 30.

State Police say there have been 74 deaths in 67 crashes in Vermont so far this year.

They say the goal of the increased enforcement is to make the roads safer and reduce the number of crashes.
