Vermonters urged to be careful in high winds

MONTPELIER (AP) - Vermont officials are urging residents to take precautions as wind gusts could reach as high as 50 mph.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the entire state until 8 p.m. Monday.

The Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security recommends that people remove items from their lawns that could cause injury or damage if blown around. Officials also are reminding residents to stay away from downed trees or tree limbs unless they're certain they're not touching power lines and they're advising families to put together emergency supply kits.
