Vermont's moose hunt lottery drawing Thursday
MONTPELIER (AP) - Hunters will be learning if they've won a permit in Vermont's annual lottery to hunt moose this fall.
The drawing takes place Thursday at the Statehouse.
Gov. Peter Shumlin and top wildlife officials will be on hand for the drawing, done by a computerized random drawing of lottery applications that were submitted by people who would like to hunt moose this fall.
The department is issuing 335 moose hunting permits by lottery this year. Of those, 285 will be issued for the regular Oct. 18-23 moose season and 50 permits will be issued for an archery moose season Oct. 1-7.
