Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Vt./N.H. employees give to local organizations

Saturday March 30, 2013

SPRINGFIELD -- Michelle Chiesa, RN, Community Clinic Nurse for the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire (VNAVNH), presented a check on behalf of the employees to George Karabakis, chief operating officer of Health Care & Rehabilitation Services of Southeastern Vermont (HCRS), headquartered in Springfield.

VNAVNH staff chips in a dollar to wear jeans every other Friday, and then donates this "Denim Money" to a nonprofit of the staff’s choice. This year, the employees contributed $1,330 to the fund and decided, in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Connecticut, to contribute to local programs providing support for children with mental and behavioral health issues.

The sum of $665 each was donated to HCRS and West Central Behavioral Health located in Lebanon, N.H.
