NEWFANE -- The Vermont Agency of Transportation and Windham Regional Commission invite town officials, volunteers and the general public to participate in a discussion on transportation.

Secretary of Transportation Brian Searles will be leading a discussion at the WRC's Full Commission meeting to gather feedback on the agency's strategic goals, priorities and performance. Searles is also interested in hearing about local and regional transportation issues.

Topics to be covered include the agency's strategic plan, how progress towards goals is tracked, funding and other transportation challenges, and innovations and efficiency measures being deployed to help the agency achieve its mission to provide for the safe movement of people and goods in a reliable, cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.

Any feedback from the discussion will help VTrans update and prioritize its goals, track what matters most to the public, and will inform the development of the statewide transportation plan. The Windham Regional Commission will conduct its regular monthly meeting following the discussion with Searles. The public is certainly invited to stay for the Commission's meeting, which is scheduled for May 15 starting at 7 p.m. at Union Hall in Newfane.
