BELLOWS FALLS >> Village Square Booksellers plans to mark the traditional start of the holiday season with an Open House weekend by celebrating Plaid Friday, Small Business Saturday, Grinch Sunday and Cider Monday. Wear plaid on Friday and choose your discount from their holiday basket. On Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28, there will be a sale on selective toys, as well as specials throughout the store and a Holiday Cookie Contest from 4:30 to 6 p.m., judged by author Ellen Stimson as part of the Indies First program.

On Sunday Nov. 29 at 1 p.m, the bookstore will host a Grinch-mas event to kick-off 25 days of Good Deeds! Come in to hear Mrs. Claus read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and join in for activities all about community spirit and doing good deeds! Good Deed Bingo Cards will be available at the bookstore and later in the week at several other Bellows Falls businesses as a way for kids to track their good deeds throughout the 25 Days of Grinch-mas! Participating Bellows Falls businesses will have "Grow Your Heart 3 Sizesl" window clings to identify their store as a Grinch Community Cares Project participant. For Cider Monday, Village Square Booksellers will serve hot mulled cider and cider donuts during the day.

Come in for some Vermont cider while you Shift Your Shopping to Shopping Local instead of using your fingers cyber shopping – free gift wrapping, refreshments, a friendly, knowledgeable staff and have fun greeting your friends and neighbors as you get a chance to visit with Bella the cat. Also Saturday Dec. 5 is Take Your Child to the Bookstore Day. A great opportunity to have your child put together their VSBooks Wish List with Mrs. Claus and have their friendly knowledgeable staff wrap up some gifts
