WESTMINSTER -- Westminster Cares creates opportunities for seniors and disabled adults to live with independence and dignity in the community. Services provided during July included:
Meals on Wheels, a total of 27 different Westminster Cares volunteers delivered meals one day a month to 18 different people. In addition, two frozen entrees were delivered to nine people on Fridays for weekend meals. One new driver is helping with the deliveries during the summer.
Rides were provided by eight different volunteers who drove 15 different Westminster residents to medical appointments, shopping or programs for a total of 628 miles.
During June, the community nurse saw seven seniors in 12 visits that covered diabetes management, medication management, foot care, and vitals check-in. The nurse also attended the senior lunch to do blood pressure checks.
During July, two Secrets of Healthy Aging sessions and a trip to the Tasha Tudor Museum in Brattleboro, four yoga classes, 20 Strength Training classes, and four Artist in Each of Us classes were held.
The next meeting of the board is scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 3. There are no meetings of the board during July and August.
