Westminster Selectboard names Hodgkins new town manager

WESTMINSTER -- The Selectboard named Russell Hodgkins as the new town manager at Tuesday's meeting.

Chairman Nathan Stoddard told the Reformer that Hodgkins was elected to the spot via a unanimous vote of the three board members present, which were Stoddard, Peter Barrett and Craig Allen.

Stoddard said Hodgkins is set to start his two-year contract on Monday, Sept. 23. He said the starting salary is roughly $56,000 a year.

Westminster has been without a full-time town manager since Matt Daskal resigned the position at the end of March to take a job in Manchester. The selectmen accepted Daskal's resignation on Tuesday, March 5, though he still made himself available to the Westminster community for several months after assuming his new post.

Daskal had started as town manager just one month before Tropical Storm Irene struck the area in August 2011 and wreaked its watery havoc on Westminster.
