Wicked Strong, Bayern take stakes races
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) -- Wicked Strong took the lead at the top of the stretch and held off Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist by 2 1/4 lengths Saturday in the Grade 2 $600,000 Jim Dandy at Saratoga Race Course.
Ridden by Rajiv Maragh, the 3-year-old son of Hard Spun ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.16 on a fast main track and paid $6.40, $3.10 and $2.40. Tonalist, the 4-5 favorite in a field of six, returned $2.50 and $2.10.
It was another 3 3/4 lengths back to late-running Kid Cruz, who paid $2.50 to show. He was followed by Commanding Curve, Ulanbator and Legend.

OCEANPORT, N.J. -- Bayern won the $1 million Haskell Invitational on Sunday at Monmouth Park, extending trainer Bob Baffert’s record for victories in the 3-year-old stakes to seven.
Bayern was the dominant front running winner, pulling away by 7 1/4 lengths over Albano.
Martin Garcia was aboard for his third Haskell, all mounts for Baffert.
The filly Untapable, facing the boys for the first time, was a disappointing fifth as the 7-5 favorite.
The time was 1:47.82 on the fast track.
Bayern paid $11.40, $7.20 and $5. Albano returned $10.80 and $6.60, and Wildcat Red paid $5.40 to show.
