Wildcats improve to 4-0

WILMINGTON — Freshman Colin McHale had a hat trick and two assists to propel the Twin Valley varsity boys soccer team to a 9-0 victory over Fair Haven on Monday.

James McGovern and Finn Fisher each tallied twice. Logan Park and Jack McHale both found the back of the net once.

Fair Haven's Liam Laramie made 13 stops. Twin Valley's Josh Carpenter-O'Hearn finished with three saves to earn the shutout.

The 4-0 Wildcats will face Bellows Falls on Friday at 6 p.m.

Girls Soccer

WESTMINSTER — Jenna Veysey fooled the goalie twice as Springfield beat Bellows Falls, 4-1.

Julianna Alberto Levings also tallied for the Cosmos. Shanice Fischer did the damage for the Terriers.

Bellows Falls (0-4) will host Leland & Gray on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Field Hockey

WHITE RIVER JCT. — After going to the break in a scoreless tie, Bellows Falls pulled way in the second half for a 4-0 victory.

"Our speed, passing and relentless play inside the circle made it hard for Hartford to keep possession of the ball for very long. I'm very proud of how well the team did," said BF coach Bethany Coursen, who noted that halfbacks Taylor Goodell and Halle Dickerson were tremendous.

Molly Kelly scored a pair of goals to lead the attack. Abbe Cravinho and Dani Marchica each tallied once.

Cross Country

WESTMINSTER — Stephen Borst finished in 20:35 to lead the Saint Michael High School team during the Russ Pickering Invitational at Bellows Falls Union High School. He was followed by teammates Jacob Christi (20:43), Ezra Christi (21:49), Nathaniel Pierce (23:35), Michael Kelliher (30:04), Lucy Duchaney (30:40), James White, and Taran Grube.
