Winchester man killed in Chesterfield crash
CHESTERFIELD, N.H. -- A 53-year-old Winchester man has died from injuries after crashing his motorcycle on Route 63 Tuesday.
According to a press release from the Chesterfield Police Department, David Gratton was traveling north in the area of 176 Route 63, about one mile north of the Hinsdale town line at about 4:45 p.m. when the accident happened.
A preliminary investigation shows the driver failed to negotiate a corner. The motorcycle continued off the roadway, coming to final rest in a neighboring field. Police stressed that the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Keene where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Chesterfield Police Department is continuing to investigate this accident, but it did confirm no other vehicles were involved in the crash. The department also believes that speed was a factor in the crash.
