Windham County Grant deadline extended


BRATTLEBORO -- In response to early public comments on the process, the Agency of Commerce and Community Development is extending the deadline to submit public comments regarding the process under development by the agency to administer the Windham County Grant Program. This program will administer funds made available through the memorandum of understanding between the state of Vermont and Entergy Vermont Yankee and will provide grants and loans to promote economic development in Windham County.

The original due date of Friday, June 13, has been extended to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 20.

In August 2013, Entergy announced it would be closing Yankee at the end of 2014. In a far-reaching MOU, Entergy agreed to give $10 million over five years to Windham County for economic assistance. The Agency of Commerce and Community Development will receive the funds and is responsible for designing guidelines for the application process and determining what projects are eligible for grants.
