Work begins on I-91 bridge improvement project

Friday July 26, 2013

BRATTLEBORO -- In preparation for the replacement of the Interstate 91 bridge over the West River and Route 30, construction crews are beginning preliminary work.

Through the end of next week there will be shoulder closures along Route 30 for the installation of conduits. The West River Trail will be closed from Aug. 5 through Aug. 9 for more conduit installation. Impacts may continue the following week as Green Mountain Power relocates an overhead utility line to an underground conduit.

Single lane closures on I-91 for the geotechnical investigation are ongoing, but are expected to be completed on July 31. Single lane closures on the I-91 southbound bridge are tentatively scheduled for cold-planing and overlay work starting Aug. 19, ending by Aug. 22.

No impacts are expected on the Upper Dummerston Road or the West River in the next three weeks.
