Wright leads VA with 17 goals and 31 assists

SAXTONS RIVER -- Former Brattleboro Hockey Association players Cam Wright of West Dummerston and Max McLaughlin of Westmoreland, N.H., helped the Vermont Academy hockey team to a 15-12-3 record and a spot in the Lakes Region Prep League playoffs.

Wright led the Wildcats with 17 goals and 31 assists. The junior’s 48 points ranked fourth in the league and he was named to the Lakes Region All-Star team.

McLaughlin, also a junior forward, had a dozen goals and 10 assists in his first season of prep hockey. He had previously teamed up with Wright on a BHA Squirts team that won a Vermont State Tournament.

It was the first season at the helm for Chris Davidson, who once coached at St. Michael’s College. Vermont Academy will return five of its top six scorers next season, in hopes of continuing its climb up the prep rankings.
