Posted

Twelve local students recently took part in the annual Windham Orchestra Concerto Competition.

Sungho Moon of Amherst, Mass., an extraordinary 14-year-old cellist, was named the winner, and will be heard as a soloist with the Windham Orchestra at upcoming performances.

Moon will perform in two concerts open to the public on Friday, April 8, 7:30 p.m. at Bellows Falls Union High School Auditorium, 406 Union High School Rd., Westminster; and Saturday, April 9, 7:30 p.m. at Brattleboro Union High School Gymnasium, 131 Fairground Rd, Brattleboro

The competition also singled out Simon Herron, who will play a solo for marimba and orchestra composed by his brother, Felix Herron, at those concerts. In addition, David Horak of Norwich will be engaged as solo violinist for a concerto with Windham Orchestra during the 2017-18 season. For information, visit windhamorchestra.org.
