BRATTLEBORO — Acoustic duo Sharon & Daniel will lead a Summer Solstice Singalong at 7 p.m. June 21, at the West Village Meeting House in West Brattleboro. The participatory event is free of charge and family-friendly. The gathering will be held outdoors, or indoors in the case of bad weather.
The Summer Solstice is also the day of Make Music Vermont. Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 2. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. All of it is free and open to the public.
Sharon Leslie and Daniel Kasnitz have prepared a wide selection of songs for folks of all ages to come sing, dance and celebrate the longest day of the year. They will be joined by the Rev. Telos Whitfield, who will lead a spiral dance, and percussionist Stephan Brandstatter, who will add gongs and rhythmic accompaniment.
