PUTNEY — The Putney Mountain Association is organizing a special Work Day to focus on invasives control. Volunteers will work from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, meeting at the main parking area at the top of Putney Mountain Road.

The volunteers will be hand-pulling glossy buckthorn on the Eastern Slope of Putney Mountain between Banning Road and the summit. PMA lands are relatively free of invasive plant species. Buckthorn is moving in off Banning Road and this quick action is expected to help protect the ecosystems up slope. The more volunteers, the more the group can accomplish.
